3 Other Events in October 2012 to look forward to

This month is in full swing and it doesn’t look like that it’s slowing down. There are 3 other events in October 2012 that you can look forward to and today I’d like to highlight them for you.

The sun is out in South Africa – gone are the cold days of winter and autumn. I’m pretty sure that this doesn’t mean that all of you reading this want to spend your days outdoors, but most of you will probably be doing that. Today’s 3 featured events in October 2012 give you the option of embracing either indoor and outdoor activities this month.

Jozi Book Fair: This event is held in Johannesburg at Museum Africa in Newtown on Saturday the 27th of October 2012. The event is brought to you by Khanya College. It’s the second annual edition of the Jozi Book Fair this year and its aimed at small progressive publishers, publishers of indigenous works, independent writers and publishers with a social justice agenda. The Jozi Book Fair aims to engage mainstream publishers and distributors of literature.

All this is done in an effort to build and promote a culture of reading within the South African landscape. Several platforms are offered for writers, publishers, agents, translators and press to engage, debate, discuss and plan new projects.  This is all done with the aim to rebuild progressive publishing movements, to create space for networks of small publishers, to develop a reading culture, to profile writers and bring publishers that are on the margins, to simulate publishing among NGO’s and social movements and to provide information about publishing.

For more information about the Jozi Book Fair, phone Sekiwe on 084 3773018 or Tremaine on 084 3773013. You can also visit the Jozi Book Fair website for more info.

Cape Outdoor Adventure & Travel Expo:This expo takes place from 26 to 28 October 2012 at Sandringham Farm in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape.  In case you did not know, the Cape Outdoor Adventure and Travel Expo is the sister show of the top outdoor exhibition (which is held annually at Kyalami Race Track in Gauteng). This awesome three day expo brings a full range of experiences to visitors.

You can expect anything from Travel and Destinations to Outdoor Products and Accessories at the Cape Outdoor Adventure and Travel Expo. If you’re planning to go camping or undertake an outdoor adventure in the near future this might be the perfect expo for you.

A new section called “Go Eco” will be included in this year’s expo. The purpose of this area will be to educate and enlighten visitors about the effect that humans have on the environment. The new area will also showcase eco-friendly products and services. This year the organizers will also be adding some very exciting components, so the Cape Outdoor Adventure and Travel Expo should not be a static show at all.
