Iziko South African Museum: This museum was museum was founded in 1825. It’s the first museum that was founded in South Africa and has been on it’s present site in the Company’s Garden (close the South African parliament building) since 1897.

The South African museum houses African zoology, palaeontology and archaeology collections. The South African museum’s collections range from fossils that are almost 700 million years old to insects and fish caught a week ago. There are also stone tools that were made by people 120,000 years ago, traditional clothes from the last century and a lot more.

The museum also has a planetarium. If you’re interesting in South African culture and history, this is definitely something worth checking out. For more information visit the Iziko South African Museum website.

Muizenberg: If you’re looking for a beach to go to, Muizenberg might just be the place to go this coming holiday season. This quite coastal town comes alive at this time of the year. Muizenberg has one the nicest beaches in Cape Town.

The water is warmer than at the other beaches (like Clifton and Camps Bay). The water is also fairly calm, giving it a reputation as a child-friendly beach. The town is also a popular surfing and body boarding spot, even though the waves are not huge.

If the beach isn’t really your favorite place, there are adventure operators, restaurants and coffee shops that you can check out. An information center is also centrally located in case you’re looking for something cool to do in the area.

Another awesome things is that you don’t have to drive to Muizenberg from Cape Town, there is actually a train running from the city to Simon’s Town on the Southern Line which stops in Muizenberg along the way. For more info about the town, check out this website.

Two Oceans Aquarium: This is a must check out if you’re in Cape Town. The Two Oceans Aquarium is located in the vicinity of the V&A Waterfront on Cape Town’s foreshore. The aquarium opened its doors in 1995.

There are species from the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean in the aquarium and many displays that will keep you and your family busy for hours. The aquarium houses seals, dolphins, penguins and a few of the sea’s deadliest predators, so try not to skip this tourist destination. More than 3000 marine creatures can be viewed at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
