A 1970 Triumph Spitfire

This is the Mark IV of the Triumph Spitfire family, designed by Giovanni Michelotti and released in 1970 with significant changes compared to its older siblings. The 1970 Spitfire had a newly designed hardtop and a flatter roof allowing better rear view. The doors were also redesigned to fit the then modern design.

The production of the 1970 Mark IV Spitfire continued until 1974 when the Spitfire 1500 was produced. In its run, the Mark IV saw 70 021 vehicles built. It is definitely one of those old classic cars you don’t want to miss out on. A gorgeous find, the Spitfire is priced at R 65 000.

1969 Dodge Coronet

Muscle cars with a reputation, Dodge did not disappoint when they released the 1969 Dodge Coronet. This powerful muscle car came with 390 hp, black fiberglass boot, 15 inch wheels and heavy-duty suspensions.

The 1969 Coronet was also known as the Super Bee. The hood has two scoops facing forward attached to the air cleaner assembly. A little over 100 000 Coronet 440s were produced. With a demand for muscle vintage cars, this is a great find on Junk Mail.

Priced at R 60 000, this red beast is located in Midrand, Johannesburg, with all the needed paperwork.

1962 Triumph Herald 1200

The Triumph Herald was one of the first line of cars released after Standard Triumph had been bought over by Lyland Motors Ltd in 1961. The 1200 series was made available as a saloon, coupe, convertible and station wagon. Under new ownership these now classic cars got a 1 147 cc engine. The new models also got better seats; the dashboard was wooden laminate for a bit of class and the bumper was covered in rubber.

Sales went up with the release of the 1200 series, the Standard-Triumph coupe production had to be dropped as it was in direct competition with the later released Triumph Spitfire.

A 1975 VW Fleetline

1975 saw the Fleetline split windscreen produced by VW South Africa. The features on this budget model were purely commercial, with brown vinyl seats and the interior painted brown. The Fleetline had three options – the bakkie, panel van and the 15-window kombi.

The production of these now vintage cars only lasted for a year. There are some uncertainties about the number produced of this specific 1975 Fleetline model, though it is said to be just below 5 000.

MGA 1958 Coupe

The initial production of these sports cars commenced in 1955 with the MGA Roadster. The sales were just below 14 000 in the first year and below 17 000 in 1957.

1957 also saw the release of the coupe version. These now classic cars are ideal for any collector, quite a number were produced and sold, making them findable.

Over 100 000 of the MGA 1958 roadster English sport car were sold when production ended in July of 1962. Like most old classic cars, the MGA has retained its beauty through the years.
