6 Events to Look Forward to in July 2012

It’s hard to believe that July is around the corner already. It feels like it was only yesterday that 2012 kicked off. Winter is still in full swing in South Africa, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening in this wonderful country of ours.

There are plenty to do coming up in July 2012. And if you’re not a fan of winter, think about it this way: it’s one month closer to spring – it will be the 1st of September 2012 before you can say “Bakkies Botha”. Here are 6 events that you can look forward to in July 2012.

Mr Price Pro: This event takes place from Monday the 2nd of July to Sunday the 8th of July 2012 in Ballito. Every year sun worshippers, music lovers and surfing fans head to the sub-tropical coastline of Kwadukuza on the Kwazulu-Natal North Coast for the popular Mr Price Pro Ballito for loads of fun in the sun. The internationally recognized surfing competition will take place at Willard Beach. Durban AirshowDurban Airshow: This takes place at Viriginia Airport in Durban on Saturday the 14th of July 2012. The Durban Airshow will be on from 10 AM to 4 PM on the day and will have lots to offer the whole family. Tickets cost R100 for adults, R50 for children between 6-13 years, R50 for pensioners and R50 for people with disabilities. National Antiques & Decorative Arts Faire: This event takes place from Friday the 20th of July to Sunday the 22nd of July 2012. The Sandton Convention Center will be hosting this event. If you are you interested in books, stamps and coins, porcelain figures or if you want to find some beautiful antique pieces to incorporate in your home or just looking for any collector’s items, the National Antiques & Decorative Arts Faire is the place to be! Franshhoek Bastille FestivalFranschhoek Bastille Festival: This annual event is scheduled for the 14th and 15th of July 2012 in Franschhoek in the Western Cape. The town is South Africa’s Gourmet Capital and will once again celebrate its centuries-old French Huguenot heritage with a  feast of food, wine and entertainment. Entertainment will range from a French Film Festival at Le Quartier’s Screening Room, to boules, a chefs and waiters race, street soccer, a barrel-rolling contest, fly-fishing competitions and live music. Cape Town Fashion WeekCape Town Fashion Week: This event in the Mother City takes place from the 25th to the 28th of July 2012 at the Cape Town Internation Convention Center. It’s a first for South African Fashion. African Fashion International (AFI) has partnered with SA Tourism to develop tourism through fashion. AFI have invited selected design powerhouses to present their Autumn / Winter 2012 collections at various iconic venues.
