With the long weekend around the corner, most of you probably have plenty of things planned (including the placement of Free Ads). There are many Events happening all over the country during the month of May that you and your friends can check out. We have highlighted 6 events to keep your schedule buzzing with excitement – 2 in the Western Cape, 2 in Gauteng and 2 in Kwazulu Natal. Wits Arts and Literary Experience 2012: This event is known by its devotees simply as WALE. This annual event takes place in 2012 from the 9th to the 12th of May in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Since its inception in 2008, WALE has provided a platform for the artistic, creative, literary and intellectual achievements of Wits alumni, staff and students. WALE has also given residents of Joburg and visitors to the city the chance to gain a cultural edge through an exciting and growing programme of art, drama, theatre, music, poetry, academic and creative writing and more. Johannesburg Wine Show 2012: This event is held from the 4th to the 6th of May at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg. The 2011 version of this event saw close to 9000 visitors streaming through the doors. This novel approach to wine education and promotion lead to more than 90% of visitors buying wines at the show. The Teddy Bear Fair: This event is held at Buitenverwachting Wine Farm in Constantia Valley, Cape Town on the 1st of May 2012 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Let’s face it folks, everyone has owned and loved a teddy bear at least once in their lifetime. Some of you may still have your beloved bear hiding in the back of a cupboard or perched comfortably on your bed. The Teddy Bear Fair is the ideal opportunity for a family fun day. The Teddy Bear Fair is hosted by the Cape Bear Community and the DRC Constantia. You will be able to see and meet a number of teddy bear collectors and crafters. Lots of competitions and prizes to be won while you browse the food stalls and sip a glass of wine. Activities such as face painting, colouring competitions, a jumping castle & more is planned for the kids. Entrance costs R20 per adult and R10 per child.
Constantia Food and Wine Festival: This festival is held at Constantia in the Western Cape from the 4th to 6th of May 2012. There will be showcasing over 40 of the finest wines and delicious food from our award winning restaurants. Visitors to the festival can expect multi-layered culinary delights, local wines and live entertainment to showcase Constantia as one of the world’s premier food and wine destinations. Korongo Valley Music Festival: This festival is held at Korongo Valley, Ixopo in Kwazulu Natal on the 5th of May 2012. Old and new generation muso’s get together to create and amazing platform for new up and coming artists to play amongst the more well know bands like The Hairy Legged Lentil Eaters, The Splayed Ferrets, The Bandits & Pan Latino (to name just a few). Heritage Market Bridal Fair:This event is held in Hillcrest in Kwazulu Natal on the 12th and 13th of May 2012. This is the Heritage’s 16th Bridal Fair. This event have become very popular with brides to be and exhibitors alike. The Heritage Market is keeping it simple and stylish with an “Autumn Country” theme for 2012. Visitors can expect warm, rich tones and a variety of exciting exhibitors. There will also be a fantastic Bridal Fair competition and wedding dress auction this year.
