A guy advertising a Macaw breeding pair for R3500 (R7000) in Bloemfontein ( Durban on the adv ) More than willing to only courier them if you pay half the money as a deposit but refuse to allow someone to come over and fetch them. His contact details: 071 721 1496 Mr SR Nani, Absa Acc: 9279991895
However, I believe that there is at least two, if not more people involved given the scope of this scam. They seem to be active in every province and major city in South Africa. They list adds for everything from ostrich chicks to birds, dogs, cats, and rabbits. A key to identifying them is their suggestion to deliver.
In fact, they have also set up a fake animal transport company with a fake website (which is currently down). This company will call you at a time that you think the animal is about to miss its flight, and demand more money for server reasons. However, there are no animals, they are not on the plane, and the company does not exist.
The company is called South-Line Logistics (not to be confused with the real South Line Logistics from Kenya, which does not use a hyphen between the South-Line). They will call and send emails that look like they come from a reputable company. The people involved in this are educated, with the exception of the Stephen persona, who cannot (or pretends not to) communicate well in English.
They use various emails and names. Here are additional bits of information that are also linked to this scam:
If you would be interested in providing me more info about your experience, please do so. I would like the word to continue to get out about this scam. I am also going to file a police report.
