Be Inspired at TEDx Cape Town 2013

Living in the Western Cape and need to be motivated and inspired to do great things? Need to convince yourself that ideas can change the world? If you answer “Yes” to both of these questions, then TEDx Cape Town 2013 is definitely an event that you should check out.

TED is one of the most motivating and inspirational websites that I’ve encountered. The website contains “Ideas Worth Spreading” and was developed to bring together the world’s most inspired and genius thinkers that are part of the Technology, Design and Entertainment realms and to offer free knowledge and inspiration to others.

A few years ago TED created TEDx (a program involving local, self-organized events) to bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These events take place in cities all over the world and TEDx Cape Town 2013 is one of  them. It’s the third year in a row that TEDx is coming to the Mother City.

TED is a non-profit organization and actually started out as a four day conference in California 25 years ago. Every year the world’s leading thinkers are invited to speak for up to 18 minutes at the TED Conference. The talks are uploaded to their website and can be viewed or downloaded for free.

TED speakers have included people like Bill Gates (the co-founder of Microsoft), Al Gore (former vice president of the United States), Sergei Brin (the co-founder of Google), Sir Richard Branson (founder and chairman of the Virgin group of companies) and hundreds of other people with some truly amazing stories.

The theme for this year’s TEDx Cape Town event is “Amazing People. Crazy Places.” and will focus on inspired individuals who have found themselves in unexpected circumstances or crazy places. These situations have propelled them to do great things, so you can expect some powerful stories.

TEDx Cape Town 2013 will take place at the Baxter Theatre on the 20th of July 2013 from 9 AM to 5 PM. Tickets cost R350 per person and are available from the 19th of June. For more information, visit the TEDx Cape Town website, become of fan of  TEDx Cape Town on Facebook or follow @tedxcapetown on Twitter.

Spread the word about this event. Share this article with your friends on Twitter and Facebook. Someone you know may still be looking to find some inspiration and TEDx Cape Town 2013 would be perfect for them.
