Well, some of you reading this post probably do. In case you did not know,  the Lone Ranger first appeared in 1933 in a radio show conceived either by radio station owner George W. Trendle or by Fran Striker. Since then there have been books, film serials, comic books, television shows and films featuring the Lone Ranger. The 2013 film will see be the 23rd time that the Lone Ranger will be portrayed on film or television.

In the 2013 film Native American spirit warrior Tonto (played Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid a man of the law, into a legend of justice. The role of John Reid / The Lone Ranger will be played by Armie Hammer and the film will also feature appearances by Helena Bonham Carter, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson, James Frain, James Badge Dale and others.

The Lone Ranger is directed by Gore Verbinski (who also directed Rango, 3 of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and The Ring) and written by Justin Haythe, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. The Lone Ranger is scheduled for release in July 2013 in the United States. No South African release date has been announced yet.
