British and Irish Lions 2009 Tour to South Africa

The British & Irish Lions recently made the trip to South Africa from the British Isles for their tour. They are scheduled to face a few South African sides and the Springboks in 3 tests. It’s the team first tour to South Africa in 12 years. This side previously toured South Africa in 1997, 1980, 1974, 1968, 1962, 1955, 1938, 1924, 1910, 1903, 1896 and 1891.

Here is the complete tour schedule:

  • 30 May 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Royal XV – Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, Rustenburg
  • 3 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Xerox Golden Lions – Coca Cola Park, Johannesburg
  • 6 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Cheetahs – Vodacom Park, Bloemfontein
  • 10 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Sharks – The ABSA Stadium, Durban
  • 13 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Vodacom Western Province – Newlands, Cape Town
  • 16 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Southern Kings – Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth
  • 20 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs South Africa – The ABSA Stadium, Durban
  • 23 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs Emerging Springboks – Newlands, Cape Town
  • 27 June 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs South Africa – Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
  • 4 July 2009 – British & Irish Lions XV vs South Africa – Coca Cola Park, Johannesburg
