Living in the Western Cape and looking for something to do? Well, the Hermanus Whale Festival is being held this weekend (from the 20th to the 24th of September 2013) and promises to be fun for the whole family. It’s the 22nd annual edition of this festival this year.
Hermanus is well-known as the world’s number one land-based whale watching spot – more than 100,000 visitors made their way to this town in Overberg in 2012. The festival is South Africa and the world’s only enviro-arts festival and will be putting these stunning creatures of the deep under the spotlight alongside some of South Africa’s top performers and musicians.
Visitors can look forward to great food, quality crafters, great sport events, kids entertainment, the Two Oceans wine food & music Marquee, the marine endangered species expo marquee, the Checkers Living Table, beautiful orchids at the Orchid Show, stunning cars at the Whales ‘n Wheels classic car show, the Whale Festival Classic bowling tournament and various other activities. It’s a great opportunity to have some fun, explore the town and its surroundings and to meet some amazing people.
