This week the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is calling on all South Africans to do their part for sustainable environmental management, by planting an indigenous tree.
This purpose with this “symbolic gesture” is to:
- Promote better knowledge of trees, in particular indigenous species
- Stress the importance of planting trees and taking care of it
- Highlight the vital role that trees play in our society
- Contribute to a green, dignified and healthy environment in all parts of South Africa.
