All that a motorcycle enthusiast needs to know about the upcoming 2017 edition of the Africa Bike Week. Where to register, what Harley Davidson bikes will be there, who to look forward to on stage and what to get up to at the event. If you are heading down to the Eastern Cape for this event, be sure to find and book your accommodation in East London.
About the 2017 Africa Bike Week
From the 27th to 30th April 2017, the annual Africa Bike Week will be upon us again. If you seek the roars of the motorcycles, time spent with family or being in the presence of likeminded enthusiasts, Harley Davidson presents you with just the motorcycle bash you’re looking for.
For the ninth consecutive year, the event looks to continue the culture. This year though, it’ll leave the familiar Margate shores in KwaZulu-Natal and make its way to the shores of Court Crescent East London, so be sure to find East London accommodation.
What you can expect at Africa Bike Week
Expect to be spoiled with live entertainment, gorgeous Harley Davidson bikes, traders, demo rides, mass ride and yes stunt shows. It is said that the mass ride is the largest found in Africa, completely free to anyone looking to join. Though hosted by the Mighty Harley, the gates are open to all models and makes, be it your bike has two or three wheels.
Everyone is invited to the annual Africa Bike Week. You don’t have to be a rider or know anything about a riders’ life. If you find it in you to appreciate the power or the roars of the beasts, the bash definitely has something for you. Like the past events the area may be closed off to the four-wheeled vehicles and motorcyclists need to register their bikes before being allowed access.
Live entertainment to look forward to
The list of entertainers includes some of South Africa’s high-in-demand artists. Visitors will get the chance to see our very own Indie Rock band, formed in 1998, The Parlotones, Black Byrd playing their country-pop songs about love and heartbreaks, and the Cape Town rock band Taxi Violence.
Desmond & the Tutus that brought us the album “Enjoy Yourself”, Goodluck Band with the hit single “Thinking about you” and Jack Parow who has successfully made Afrikaans rap music as popular as it is today are among some of the live acts you can look forward to. With the listed few, you can tell that a large group of music listeners have been catered to.
Trade & Expo

Free demo rides are available every day of the event. If you’ve never rode a bike before, the offered Jump Start guarantees you the first experience of riding a Harley. Trust me, you will be sorted when you are looking for your very own Harley Davidson.
If the roar filled atmosphere still does nothing to your adrenaline, there will be stunts to do just that. Watch as riders perform rather unimaginable tricks and reach heights only seen on TV. This part of the weekend is not for the faint hearted. Trial bike and extreme bike shows will definitely be one of the many attractions of the weekend.
Remember even though the event is free, you’re still required to register/book on Quicket Online Tickets before the event. See this as a chance to book the riders experience of your life. Persons under the age of 18 need not register, but they will only be allowed on the premises if accompanied by an adult.
The 2017 Africa Bike Week promises to be an event not to be missed. It is intended to continue the running success of the previous motorcycle bashes, hosted by Harley Davidson. If you plan on attending the event in April, don’t forget to find accommodation in East London ahead of time.
