Events in KZN – May 2011

Military Concert and Dolphin Show: uShaka Marine World will be saluting the very best of military music at Sea World’s Dolphin Arena on the 20th and 21st May 2011. This time round, uShaka Marine World’s heroes not only include its legendary dolphins, but 2 military bands that have earned their stripes both locally and abroad. The SA Army Band KwaZulu Natal (a combination of the former 121 South African Infantry Battalion Band, former Navy band and members of the former Eastern Province Command Staff Band) started out in 2001 and will be performing. There will also be a performance by the 1 Medical Battalion Group Pipe Band which has made its mark at major national and International events (including the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and World Pipe Championships in 2004). uShaka Marine World and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) believe this will be a whole new entertainment experience that will combine the best of traditional African culture and age-old military tradition and act as a precursor to the upcoming 2011 Kwa-Zulu Natal Military Tattoo. The show starts at 19:00 on the Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be booked through Computicket.

East Coast Radio Big Walk: This event is held at Ushaka Marine World in Durban on the 22nd of May 2011. This event has seen enormous growth and improvement over the last 6 years. It has become one of the biggest family fun events Durban has ever seen. The first year saw only 1800 walkers, however 8000 walkers participated in the 2010 event. With starting points at Ushaka Marine World the walk this year moves from a one-route event to a four-route event, with 5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 20 km distances. For more information visit this link.
