Events in KZN – May 2011

The Big 5 Mountain Bike Series 2011: This event is held in Kwazulu Natal on the 15th of May 2011. The routes available at each event consist of 50 km races for the experienced, 25 km for the intermediate or novices and a 10 km event (normally for children sometimes accompanied by the parents). Each race is being hosted at a different venue in various parts of Zululand the riders will be treated to a variety of track types and scenery, from the beauty of the coastal views and coastal forests of Mtunzini to the challenge of the technical track of Heatonvilles Neverest and the fast dusty single track through the game reserves of Hluhluwe, the rider has it all. To compete for the Big 5 Series, the 4 best times out of the 5 races are counted. The minimum entry to be legible for the series competition is an entry into any four of the five races. The individual results and series results will be posted on the website within 3 days of each race and Elite Timing will provide results on the day of the race. Entry costs R350 to R500. Pecanwood Pig & Beer Fest: The the 2nd Annual Pig & Beer Fest will be held in Pietermaritzburg on the 14th and 15th of May 2011 at Pecanwood 15 km from the city). There will be plenty of beer, spit roasts, live bands, bonfires and so much room for activities. The 2nd Annual Pecanwood Dodge ball championship will also be taking place. Great prizes can be won (from Weekend getaways to drinks vouchers). Tickets costs R69. This includes camping as well as entering your dodge ball team of 6 people.
