The Gateway Gauntlet: This event is held at Gateway Shopping Center in Durban on the 9th of October 2010. The event starts at 8:30 and ends at 17:00. Its the next best thing since soft trails and remote lock outs were invented. This amazing energy-sapping, mind blowing event is the only mountain bike event in Africa that rides through and finishes inside a shopping centre. All the routes consist of flat-out tar sprints, coupled with grinding sharp dirt track turns. Sprinkled every now and again with some short technical sections. Sweat forming natural obstacles will be used or concept ones built to give the riders an intense African adventure with a slightly technical accomplishment.
BSG Energade Triathlon Series: This event is held on the 31st of October at Midmar Dam near Howick. The BSG Energade Triathlon series is Africa’s premier sprint triathlon competition. The event incorporates 3 disciplines namely swimming (600m), cycling (20km) and running (5km). Competitors are offered a multi-faceted sporting experience and a superb way to get fit, and have fun all at the same time. The series comprises 7 races, starting on Sunday and finishing early in December, and are held at fantastic venues across the country. It is not only accessible to the majority of enthusiasts but, because of the stage distances, is within the capabilities of those folk considering a sporting challenge with a difference or a foray into the exhilarating world of multi-sports. A kiddies race section (distances are shorter than the adult division) added to the series in 2007, BSG Energade Triathlon Series race days have turned into an ideal family day out. The entire household is now able to participate and support each other as the Kids Series races usually start at 7.30am, followed by the senior race which gets underway at 9.30am.
