Celebrate Durban! It’s that time of the year again. It’s time for Heritage Month and time for the 9th annual Celebrate Durban events showcase which features more than 45 eclectic participative events which are on offer this year during September in recognition of heritage / tourism month. The season once more sees a comprehensive calendar with a clever mix of social, family, heritage, sports, arts, culture, health, environmental and community events to celebrate Durban’s cultural diversity. Free Arts Bus & Heritage Bus: The Arts Bus and its sister, the Heritage Bus was a huge success during the 2010 FIFA World Cup season. For this reason it has been extended into the Celebrate Durban heritage season. The busses have been operating over the last few weeks. The Arts Bus will be running on the 18th of September 2010 and the Heritage bus will be running on the 25th of September. The Arts & Heritage Buses offer 2 different cultural experiences with a free hop-on, hop-off city buses which allows arts lovers to visit 8 of the city’s premier galleries and some of the city’s top heritage attractions in 1 day. An onboard guide will explain the attractions en-route and provide a narrative context to all the places being visited.  The bus for both routes will depart at 8.45am at the KZNSA Gallery in Glenwood. The KZNSA Gallery, The Durban Art Gallery, The BAT Centre, Artisan Gallery, African Art Centre, Durban University of Technology Gallery, Crouse Art Gallery and ArtSPACE Durban is including on the list of Arts Bus stops. Mazisi Kunene Museum, the KwaMuhle Museum, the Old Court House Museum, the Durban Botanic Gardens, the Jumma Masjid Mosque and Emmanuel Cathedral are include on the list of stops for the Heritage Bus. Bus entry is free and all are welcome. There will be lunch stops factored into the itinerary for passengers to purchase a light meal. Seats are limited so booking is advisable.
