Robertson Slow: This event is staged in Robertson in the Western Cape (about 90 minutes drive from Cape Town) from the the 6th of August to the 8th of August 2010. Sample honest, old-fashioned, rural hospitality synonymous with the Robertson Wine Valley’s wine-making community at the Robertson Slow. Enjoy traditional cuisine using local ingredients from the Valley, experience wine tastings and dinners in the homes of the local wine-makers, explore the area’s biodiversity with fynbos walks guided by a gamekeeper, have the opportunity to learn to make your own salami / cheese or to cure your own olives / bake bread to perfection and visit the Robertson Valley Food Market. Swellendam Canola Carnival: This event is staged from the 6th of August to the 8th of August 2010 in Swellendam in the Overberg. The town is painted yellow It’s the time of year when canola fields cover the hills with patches of yellow flowers in the Overberg. Enjoy the outdoors and nature of Swellendam. Mountain Biking, a 21 km marathon, a 5 km fun run, golfing, and quad-biking is part of the proceedings. There’s also a 4×4 route, an old car show, entertainment by local musicians and others, exhibitions, an arts and crafts market, bus tours to the canola factory & much more. Restaurants and other businesses will also partake by holding their own exciting events.
