Nederburg Harvest Day: This event is held at Nederburg Estate, Paarl in the Western Cape on the 26th of February 2011. The recent heat wave has accelerated ripening in the vineyards. Visitors are invited to join the fun and festivities at Nederburg’s harvest day and participate in creating some of the winery’s award-winning wines. On arrival visitors will be treated to a refreshing glass of sparkling wine. Then it’s over to the expert harvesting team, who’ll teach you how to hand-pick perfectly ripened grapes. After harvesting, a scrumptious barbeque-style brunch and some fine Nederburg wines will be served on the rolling lawns in front of the historic 19th century Manor House with spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards and majestic Drakenstein Mountains. Harvesters stand a chance to win a gift pack of Nederburg wines in a lucky draw. It is strongly advised to bring a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Tickets are R185 per person (includes the barbeque-style brunch and a bottle of Nederburg wine, from the Foundation or Winemaster’s Reserve ranges, per couple) and R55 per child under 12. Booking is essential. For more information phone Sunette on 021 8623104.
