Napier Patat Festival: This event is held from the 17th to the 19th of June 2011. This year this festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The festival kicks off on Friday with a live performance and dance by brothers Christo & Kobus. Then on Saturday morning there will be an exciting half marathon, fun run and mountain bike race that will take place at the Napier High School school. Stalls will be available at the school as in the past. One of the many exciting changes this year is that the beer hall will be in the pavilion above the athletics track, keeping the crowd more concentrated round the stalls. The Miss Napier competition and Mej Patatrantjie will also be held on the Saturday morning this year (in the middle of the athletics field, weather depending), as opposed to the Friday night, ensuring that maximum attention at the school. After prize giving in the afternoon, festivities will continue at the school. The rest of the village will come alive for the remainder of the weekend with open gardens, vintage cars, wine and beer tastings and more. For more information phone 044-2133314.
ABSA Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival: This event is held from the 16th to the 18th of June 2011. Calitzdorp is renowned far and wide as the Port Capital of South Africa. The town is shaking off the Klein Karoo dust in preparation for the very best wine and lifestyle festival this region has to offer. Following the tremendous success of the 2009 Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival, the 2011 festival will again be centred at the historic Calitzdorp Railway Station, well-complimented by a full and fabulous programme of events at the various wine cellars and village venues. Festival visitors will be treated to a magnificent medley of Ports and Port cultivar wines. The whole weekend program is packed with activities that cater for the whole family.
