The Cape Winelands Film Festival: This event is held in Stellenbosch at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre from 16 to 26 March 2011. This event will showcase the best of World Cinema not screened in South Africa before plus a few old favourites. Dozens of festivities range from open air film screenings to educational talks on film, informal receptions with guest celebrities, barrel tastings and fun for all ages. Imagine Stellenbosch where the oak-lined Dorp Street is home to museums and galleries as well as many student cafes and restaurants, all buzzing with film buffs. Do not be surprised if you bump into some other famous movie celebrity. For 10 days a programme of timely and fascinating films is offered, which evolves organically from the programming process. A host of special events, tributes, talks & symposia are already in the works. The Cape Winelands Festival’s perspective is clearly global, but the festival is also a showcase and forum for the South African film industry. For more info visit http://films-for-africa.co.za/.
