Events in the Western Cape – October 2010

Franschoek Classical Music Festival: This event is held in Franschoek in the Western Cape from the 29th to the 31st of October 2010. A range of classical music events at some of Franschhoek’s finest eateries and the beautiful Dutch Reformed Church form part of the proceedings. All proceeds will be donated to local charities. The Franschoek Classical Music Festival will be a nice way to spend a relaxing and inspiring weekend. A weekend filled with classical music in the Cape winelands in the late Spring. The festival will bring together excellent musicians and a variety of classics and world music to Franschhoek, a weekend of recitals and chamber music initiated by well-known pianist Christopher Duigan. Artists participating in this year’s festival include the celebrated US pianist Bryan Wallick, the well-known Stellenbosch-based cello and piano duo Peter Martens and Luis Magalhães, German guitar virtuoso Ulrich Busch, London-based saxophonist and clarinettist Joanne Rozario, Duigan himself and other artists. Events take place in beautiful surroundings and in some cases include meals in historic and exclusive settings.
