A Short Overview of the Junk Mail Print & Digital Media Group
Founded in 1992, the Junk Mail Print and Digital Media Group is a powerhouse in the classifieds industry.
Originally starting as a print publication in Pretoria, 1993 saw the brand expand to include Johannesburg as well. 1995 saw the print publication split into Johannesburg and Pretoria editions, and in 1996 the Junk Mail building in Pretorius Street, Pretoria, was officially inaugurated.
In 1997 the Junk Mail brand expanded even further to KwaZulu-Natal and, in that same year, job vacancies were moved out of the Junk Mail print publication to form Job Mail. Junk Mail and Job Mail braved the new world, going online in 1998.
2002 saw users being able to place ads via SMS, and the partial acquisition of Alli-Cat, Truck & Trailer being the first publication. In 2003 Cape Ads were bought and in 2004 the remainder of Alli-Cat was acquired and the Junk Mail Print & Digital Media Group introduced the Auto Mart and Buy and Sell 4×4 publications.
In 2006, Truck & Trailer, Auto Mart and Buy & Sell 4×4 went online. 2007 saw the launch of Bike & Quad Mart which also went online in that same year. 2008 saw the launch of SA Plant & Machinery and in 2009 Junk Mail got a stunning new online strategy.
In 2011 Junk Mail Print & Digital Media Group expanded into Africa.
Today, the Junk Mail Print and Digital Media Group boasts a number of titles, both in print and online.
