Where to find used cars for sale in South Africa

The used car market in South Africa is expansive to say the least and if you’re looking for Cars for Sale, it’s almost never a bad idea to consider buying a pre-owned car. Now I’m sure you would have realised that used cars are quite a bit cheaper than their showroom floor rivals. Not that a used Ferrari will be cheaper than a brand new Mini, but a used Ferrari will be quite a bit cheaper than a new Ferrari. So if you are looking to buy a car, I’ve compiled a brief blog to show you which used cars are the best.

Volkswagen

In South Africa especially, used Volkswagens are found everywhere. Now due to their popularity with the younger generation, you’ll need to be careful to avoid buying one without a fully functioning clutch. That being said, there are still thousands of options to choose from as the car is the preferred mode of transportation for a wide variety of different people. When you add to their popularity, with the fact that VW still makes parts for all its models, both old and new, you’re sure to find a bargain. One that’s safe, reliable and still in excellent condition.

All the Japanese Manufacturers

I’ve mentioned the brilliance of Japanese cars in a previous post, the one about the best cars for teenagers. Now the same reason the cars got a mention then, is the same reason they’ve made the list again. Japanese cars are extremely well made and safe. When you’re buying a used car, you want one that, despite its age, will still retain its reliability and because Japanese cars are so well made, even one that’s fifty years old, will still last longer than you.

The Germans

The German manufacturers have made it on to the list, but only just. The German made cars I’m talking about in particular refer to those made by BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi. Now the reason they only just made it on to the list is because they are: a) usually more expensive than other used cars in the same category and b) because only the newer models are really reliable. If you’re going back 15 or 20 years, those ones should be avoided, but any cars that were made post 2000 are still worth the money, if they’ve been looked after.

Absolutely Nothing Chinese

If you’re in the market for a used car, don’t buy anything that comes from China. Now I’m not going to say that all Chinese made cars are terrible, as much as I’d like to, it simply isn’t true. I’m sure a few good ones have snuck out the factory, but for the most part, Chinese cars are pretty terrible. They are cheaply made and will break down fairly regularly. Finding parts, whilst easy, won’t be worth it as the replacement parts are cheap as well and will probably break quite quickly.

This is Merely Advice

Now as informational as this list might be, I would never advise you to only buy the cars on it. You, and only you, can decide which car best suits you and if you find one that you love, one that’s not found on this list, by all means, buy it. To quote Jeremey Clarkson: “Cars you love are not meant to be sensible, they’re meant to be a love affair, a wild, passionate, youthful fling, so don’t use your head when buying a car you love, use your heart”. Now if you’re wondering where to find used cars for sale in South Africa, have a look at the ones found on Junk Mail. They’ll make finding good quality used cars for sale, as easy as it’s possible to be.
