Get Ready For Red 2

Red 2 is an upcoming Action Comedy film. It’s the sequel to the 2010 film, Red. The film is directed by Dean Parisot and scheduled to be released in July 2013 in the United States.

The first film was one of the box office surprises of 2010 – it was made on a budget of  only $58 million, but has grossed almost $200 million to date. This prompted the studio to consider a sequel. No budget estimates have been released for the second film to date though.

Red 2

Red 2 tells the story of retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses and his unlikely team of elite operatives who undertakes a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. Both Red and Red 2 are based on the limited comic book series (created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner). Red 2 will feature an all-star cast. Expect appearances by Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lee Byung-hun, Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren.

Bruce Willis (who is the lead actor in Red 2) is 58 years old, but it doesn’t look like he’s slowing his acting career down any time soon. He appeared in 6 films in 2012 and Red 2 will be the third film that he appears in this year – he already appeared in a Good Day to Die Hard and G.I. Joe: Retaliation in 2013. Bruce Willis is also appearing in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (which will be released later in 2013).

No release date has been released for Red 2 in South Africa yet, but keep your eyes open for updates on the Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro websites. Judging by the Red 2 trailer below audiences can expect the same humor and action they experienced in the first film. It looks like the film is going to a fun-filled and off-beat ride with some surprises along the way.
