The Junk Mail head office is located in Pretorius Street in Hatfield, Pretoria. This is an extremely busy street which carries most traffic entering the Pretoria CBD from the Eastern Suburbs and Emahleni (Witbank).
The Junk Mail head office has been at its current location since 1996. Over the years the Junk Mail team has seen 3 deaths, the result of employees trying to cross the busy 4 lane one way street in order to get lunch (at one of 3 fast food outlets). There is a Holiday Inn right next to the Junk Mail head office.
Hotel residents and Junk Mail employees risk their lives on a daily basis to cross this road to get lunch.
Junk Mail is turning 19 years old this year. Over the years we’ve connected thousands of buyers and sellers via our publication and website. We call on all of users to help us save Junk Mailers lives by supporting a cause dedicated to making this crossing safer for the community and for our employees.
One of the Junk Mail employees created a cause on the Mobility website in regards to this. The aim of the cause, which is entitled ‘Build a walk over bridge here’ is to generate enough awareness about this issue amongst citizens of the City of Tshwane and to urge the Tshwane Metro Council to build a walk over bridge to prevent future pedestrian deaths.
