The Homemakers Expo is South Africa’s leading home improvement expo. If you’re looking for ways to improve your home you should not miss out on this top event in Durban. The 2013 edition of this expo will be held at Durban Exhibition Centre from the 3rd to the 6th of October 2013. The expo will feature more than 220 market leading interior and exterior home improvement exhibitors and promises to enlighten visitors with its exciting highlights and feature areas.
Exhibits range from basic home improvement products to other DIY products and beautiful decor accessories. The expo’s deli section will give visitors the opportunity to taste some fine wine and enjoy some delicious cheese, chocolates and other treats and the expo’s “What’s It Worth” antique show is back in 2013. Visitors are encouraged to bring their treasured antiques and other collector’s item along and get a free assessment from Thunder Auctioneers and nine of their experts. You never know how much something is really worth until you get an assessment from some experts.
Visitors are also invited to build a better life for others by adding “A Brick In the Wall”. The Homemakers expo has given their support to the Meals on Wheels initiative. Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organisation that serves more than 10 million meals a year and also gets businesses and individuals to voluntarily help renovate the properties of needy individuals and organisations.
This year the organizers and visitors to the expo will be building a mural at the expo to collect donations for the Assisi Children’s Shelter (also known as Thembalethu: Our Hope) in Annerly (in rural Kwazulu Natal). Visitors can buy stickers for R20 and paste it on the Orphanage wall to show their support. This initiative is supported by Meals on Wheels.
And that’s not all – one lucky visitor stands a chance to win a Dream Home Prize worth R120,000 at this year’s expo. The prize is sponsored by Hisense, Beds for Africa, Elephant Showers, Luban Sofa, Chubb security and Snappy Chef. Visitors can enter at the event and a live draw will take place on the Sunday afternoon.
The Homemakers Expo will be open from 10 AM to 9 PM from the Thursday to the Saturday and from 10 AM to 6 PM on the Sunday. Entrance costs R50 for adults and R25 for pensioners. Children under 12 can enter for free. For more information, check out the Homemakers Expo website or phone 031 7645270.
