Managing your ads is easier than ever with Junk Mail’s new user accounts. When you login, look for the “My Ads” tab. Click on it, and you will see a list of your ads currently on Junk Mail.
There are 4 sub-tabs in the “My Ads” tab:
- Active Ads
- Deactivated Ads
- Associate Ads
- Pending Ads
All your active ads will show in the Active Ads tab while all your inactive ads will show in the Deactivated Ads tab. Ads placed with your email address before you had a User Account or that were placed while you were logged out of your account will appear under the Associate Ads tab. Ads awaiting moderation will appear under the Pending Ads tab. When you deactivate an active ad it will appear in the Deactivated Ads tab and will be removed from search results. If you Activate an advert from the Deactivated Ads tab it will appear in the Active Ads tab and appear in the search results.
To view your inactive ads simply click on the Deactivated Ads tab. If you want to view your active ads again simply click on the Active Ads tab.
At the bottom of each ad you will see the following buttons to manage your ads depending on what sub tab you are:
- Edit
- Activate
- Deactivate
- Repeat
- Bump Up
- Promote
- Delete
Alternatively:
On your Junk Mail Dashboard, you will find a summary of all your adverts, where you will also find buttons to edit your ad your ads.
How can I “associate my ads”?
As an avid Junk Mail user, you have probably placed ads on Junk Mail previously. In order to help make it possible to pull your previously placed ads, we have done a match of your previous ads against your user credentials. Any matches we find, we allow you to associate with your account, where you will be able to repeat them as you like.
Can I still manage my ads without an account?
Yes, when you have placed a free ad on Junk Mail, you will receive a confirmation email that will have the option to Edit, Repeat, Deactivate, Upsell, or Bump Up your ad.
How long does my ad stay online?”
By default, ads stay online for 16 weeks and 1 week in print. If you would like your ad to be in print more than 1 week, you can repeat your ad for another week. This will also extend your ad online for 1 week.
Of course, once you sell your item you can deactivate your ad, which will remove the ad from our search engine.
How can I edit my ad?
After submitting your ad, you can edit it. There are three ways to edit your ad:
- On the ad confirmation page, you can edit your ad using the “Edit” button.
- In your ad confirmation email, you can use the “Edit” button to edit your ad.
- If you have created a user account, you can edit your ad from your user account.
How can I repeat my ad?
If your ad is more than 7 days old, there are two ways to repeat your ad:
- In the confirmation email you received when placing your ad, you can click on the “Repeat Ad” button.
- If you are a registered user, you can repeat your ad from the user dashboard. Just log into your account, click on the “Manage My Ads” tab, find the ad you want to repeat, and click on “Repeat”.
If your ad is less than 7 days old, you won’t be able to repeat it using the above features. However, there are still two ways to get your ad to the top of the results:
- Send a SMS to 42233 with your ad ID. This costs R30. For more information, click here.
- If you have a user account, you can bump up your ad using a credit card. From the “Manage My Ads” tab of the User Dashboard, find the ad you want to move up the listings and click on “Bump Up”. This will take you to a payment gateway, where you can pay the R30 charge with a credit card. As soon as the payment is completed, the date on your ad will be updated and your ad will move to the top of the listings.
I’ve sold my item. How can I remove my ad?
There are two ways to remove your ad:
- In the email you receive after successfully placing your ad, you have the option to deactivate your advert from the Junk Mail site. By selecting this option, your ad will not appear on the site.
- Alternatively, if you have registered as a user, you can log into your User Dashboard, click on the “My Ads” tab, find the ad you want to remove, and click the “Deactivate” or “Delete” button. Keep in mind that if you delete the ad it can’t be undone and the ad is gone. The safer way is to deactivate an advert except if you are 100% sure you are not going to activate it in future.
My ad has moved to page 2. How do I get it back to the top of the results?
Search results are listed by the age of the ad. For ads older than 7 days, you can simply repeat your ad.
If your ad is less than seven days old, you can move your ad back to the top of the listing by bumping it up. To find out how to bump up your ad, go to $URL.
Is there a mechanism for keeping my ads at the top of the results.
The first five ads online and the first three ads on mobile are reserved as Top Listing spaces. By purchasing a Top Listing ad or upgrading your free ad to a Top Listing ad, your ad will be guaranteed to be shown in the top five results of a page in the listings.
I paid for a top listing. Why isn’t my ad in the first five search results?
Top Listing ads are shown randomly based on category and region. If more than five ads are available for the user’s category and region, ads are presented in a random order: the first five of the random selection on page 1, the second five of the random selection on page 2, and so on.
If you aren’t seeing your ad, there are two easy things to do to check that it is in the random queue:
- Start by selecting the “View All Top Listings”. If you find your ad in those listings, then your ad is part of the queue.
- Then, look at the Top Listings for the current page. Remember them. Close your browser, and return to exactly that page. If the ads aren’t exactly the same, then the randomiser is working properly.
i need to edit my ads: R2 cois to add Rare in front on HEADING, to make heading of multipurpose trailer TRAILER FOR SALE
Hi Cornelius,
I’ve made the changes on your behalf. If you want more changes made, you can either use the edit ad link on the activation e-mail or create a user account with your e-mail address and edit them from inside the user account.
