When witches go riding and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers “Its Halloween.” Yes, that’s right, it’s that time of the year again where everyone dresses up in scary outfits and on their way trick or treating they go.
Halloween evolved from the ancient Celtic Holiday of Samhain. This day marked the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter known as the Darker half of the year. Samhain was the biggest and most significant holiday among the Celtic culture.
Halloween was born when the ancient Christian people attempted to change the religious practices of the Celtic people. Today, Halloween is celebrated by millions of people throughout the world, on the 31st October. Thousands of children and adults go out dressed in costumes to celebrate this day. Kids overseas still practice the trick-or-treat tradition where they go collecting treats from homes around the neighbourhood.
Most adults use this festival to host or attend masquerades and Halloween themed parties. Most families go out of their way to decorate their houses with lights and pumpkins and a lot of scary props.
