These days a lot of people have smartphones. Blackberries, iPhones and the Samsung Galaxy. The mobile web is blowing up at an alarming rate. When people are waiting for their coffee, waiting for a meeting to start or waiting for their kids to get to the car when picking them up at school they are on their phones and loads are browsing the web.
But why? Why has the mobile web become so big so fast? The answer is more obvious than you might think. Because everyone has their mobile phone with them at all times. Websites have caught on and there are load of mobile websites that are easier to load on your mobile phone. Even Junk Mail has its own Junk Mail Mobile site.
Gone are the days of arguing around a braai about the 1972 Formula 1 world champion because these days people have Google right in their pockets. Facebook is right at your fingertips. Twitter is becoming more and more popular due to the fact that you have Twitter right in you pocket.
Last year twitter played a fundamental role in the Egyptian revolution. People were organizing meeting points through Twitter and Facebook. This has caused such a stir that Twitter has announced that they can censor tweets by country. Read more about that here.
