The Rand Show showcases all things outdoors, food and home decor. Bring the whole family to this annual spectacular where there is something for everyone. If you have never been to a show before, then the Rand Show 2016 will definitely impress. Here’s the lowdown on the event:
The history of the Rand Show
The first Rand Show was held at the Wonderers cricket grounds in November 1894 which was hosted by the Witwatersrand Agricultural Society. The following year saw Paul Kruger himself opening the show in Milner Park (today it’s the University of the Witwatersrand’s West Campus). The show was halted due to the Anglo Boer War and was brought back in 1936.
The Rand Show took place over eleven days and it was originally hosted to showcase South Africa’s agricultural and livestock industries. South Africans came from all over the country to attend this show. Later shows exhibited a lot more industrial and commercial goods. Since then the show has been held at the NASREC Expo center, with exception of one show that was held at the Gallagher Estate in 2009.
The Rand Show 2016
The 2016 Rand Easter Show is once again at the NASREC Expo Centre and is taking place from the 25th of March till the 3rd of April. Rand Show tickets are unfortunately not available yet and we can’t give you information on the Rand Show entrance fee until it is update on their website.
