Rocking the Daisies and Wrigley’s 5 Gum are excited to announce that various international and local artists will perform at the popular festival this year. The 2011 edition of Rocking the Daisies will once again take place at the Cloof Wine Estate near Darling in the Western Cape from 7 to 9 October.
The headliners at this year’s festival will include Civil Twilight, Prime Circle, Just Jinjer, aKING and Lark as well as supporting international act Belleruche (UK) and 2011 SAMA award winning YOAV. Friday night at the festival will also see the newly created Daisies ALL STARS (a onetime collaborative performance which will include an array of South Africa’s top artists from Francois van Coke to Tasha Baxter, backed by a 15 piece Motown band).
The festival will have a little something for all amped festival goers. Electrifying international DJ Kevin Saunderson (The Elevator) from Detroit in the United States will rock on the Red Bull Studio Live stage. South African DJ’s Anthea Sholtz, C9ine, Haezer, Kid Fonque, Killer Robot, P H Fat, and Sibot will also make appearances. The Nu World Beat Ring will present Boom Pam (Israel), Nomadic Orchestra vs Mr Cat & the Jackal and Napalma amongst other exciting acts.
British rock band, Band of Skulls has also been confirmed as the headlining international act for the main stage on Saturday night and French electro duo Mustard Pimp / DIM MAK will be the main act for the Red Bull Studio Live Electronic Stage on Friday night. Festival goers from Gauteng are invited to fly on the Daisy Plane. For the first time ever Johannesburg based fans will be able to make their way down to the Festival for an unbelievable R999. The deal includes return flights and entrance into the event. There will be a number of flights to choose from so make sure you get your tickets now. Culture Talent in hand with Rocking the Daisies bring you this year’s Fruit and Veg City Walking the Daisies. 100 festival goers will walk along the beach to the Festival through the West Coast landscape. This year Walking the Daisies have teamed up with Bobs for Good, the social development initiative striving to provide every needy South African child with a pair of quality, leather, locally made school shoes. All walkers will be asked to donate R150 to shoe one child in need, making sure no little feet are ever dusty, dirty, sore or tired. Applications to join the walk launched on the 9th September. So keep a look out for information about walking on the Rocking the Daisies website.
150 keen cyclists will get to enjoy a beautiful outdoor ride with the added benefit of finishing at Rocking the Daisies just in time for the party to start. Keen cyclists can head to the Web Tickets website and purchase their discounted ticket to the Festival.
