Spice up your Advert: Edit your Advert

Some items advertised for sale at Junk Mail takes longer than to sell than others. This post is the first in a series of 3 that give advertisers tips on how to improve their experience and sell their items quicker. Today’s post will cover the topic of editing one’s advert.

One of the reasons your advertised item might not be selling might be because you’ve used the same wording on the advert for ages. It might also be because no photos are added for your advertised item. Junk Mail users can edit their adverts by making use of the “Edit” link provided on each advert e-mail confirmation that is sent out.

If you are struggling to sell your item take note of these handy tips for editing your advert:

  • Change the format of your advert if it doesn’t make sense. Make sure that the person reading your advert will know exactly what it is. Make sure that you include the correct keywords for your advert. Make sure that the spelling is correct in your advert text.
  • Make sure that you mention important aspects of the item you are selling. For instance, if you are selling a digital camera, make sure that you state the amount of megapixels the camera is. If you are selling a vehicle make sure that you include the year model, colour, standard features and extras in your discription and so forth.
  • Add a photo for more exposure. We allow users to ad up to 15 photos per advert. Studies have shown that advertising an item with a photo could increase your exposure by up to 8 times.
  • Your advert might not be getting exposure because it’s placed in the wrong category. If you’re unsure about this contact us to confirm that the category your advert is placed in is the correct one for the item.
If you are unsure about anything regarding editing your advert please feel free to contact us. Comments and suggestions are welcome on the post. We would love to hear from our users.

How do I remove my ad after I’ve sold the item.

    • Heinrich van den Worm says:

Hi Banele, if you have created your user account, that would be quite easy. Just go into your dashboard, then click on “My Ads”. From there you can deactivate your ad. Your ad will not be completely removed, but it won’t show on the system. Does that help you?

Please tell me how to delete my ad for 2 Cellini suitcases from Junk Mail. They were sold yesterday

    • Hi Bev, that’s great! You can delete it either from your Junk Mail account, or from the ad confirmation email you received. You can also send us the Advert ID or the email address with which you placed the ad, and we’ll delete it for you. 🙂
