If you love sports and can’t always watch the live games on your telly, it is time that you befriend a man that lives to follow the bounce.
Some of you might not know this, but @followthebounce is the go-to profile for South African sports fans on Twitter. From live score updates, to online articles and to up-to-the-minute sports banter. @followthebounce delivers it all and with a touch of spice – we might add.
Ben Karpinski (@followthebounce) has always been an avid sports fan (like many of you) and decided to provide his followers with a different perspective from behind the rugby poles and what is happening on the cricket pitch. All of his sports views and are streamed like live score updates and posted straight to his blog ( www.thebounce.co.za). From the blog, his daily sporting banter sort of evolved into a profile of its own and he has been having great fun with it ever since, mainly “broadcasting” to a wide variety of sports fans.
The Junk Mail Team recently had the privilege of asking @followthebounce some questions, this is what he had to say:
What is the strangest comment you ever received from someone who follows your live scoring on Twitter?
@followthebounce says: Nothing too strange, people mostly agree with what I say and enjoy it. But some douche last Friday said to me that he was at the game so no need to provide live updates. Ah, sure bud, I forgot I only tweet for you… 🙂
If ball sports were abolished what would you do?
@followthebounce says: Pump heavy weights and become a swimwear photographer. Nah, probably run more and get more into bikes. I still wouldn’t watch more F1 though (not a fan).
Do you think online classifieds is a good way for newbies to find second hand sporting equipment and tickets to sporting events?
@followthebounce says: For sure, growing up as a keen golfer I used to trawl those things weekly. Although back in the 90s it was more newspaper format than online.
Which sporting memorabilia or sports collector item would you like to get your paws on?
@followthebounce says: A replica Masters green jacket signed by Gary Player.

From the first week of Super 15 Rugby’s results who do you think is going to take the crown?
@followthebounce says: Crusaders will probably do it again, hurts me to say it, but those guys are just so complete and balanced.
