Africa is a beautiful place and we are very lucky to live in Africa. The sad thing is that very few of us will actually venture further north of the South African border. Put Foot Rally is the perfect way to see Africa and do some good along the way. You don’t need a huge 4×4 or off-road vehicle to make the trip either. All you need is the will and you could do it in a Citi Golf.
7 African countries, 7000 kilometres and 17 days. That is what you will be facing at the starting point of your journey on the Put Foot Rally. South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Swaziland each has their own checkpoint where the party happens.
Along the way you will be giving shoes to underprivileged children with the help of the Put Foot Foundation. The Put Foot Foundation was founded by three young South African adventurers, Mike Sharman, DarynHillhouse and Dan Nash. The aim is to take along and give away at least 600 pairs shoes to children that probably would never own a new pair of shoes in their lives. Also for the 2012 Put Foot Rally another cause will be created. Project Rhino will try and raise enough money to sponsor one complete anti-poaching Rhino team. South African Braai legend BraaiBoy also took part in the Put Foot Rally Last Year.
So not only will you see bit more of the beautiful continent we are living on, you will be helping people and animals along the way. Do you really need more of a reason to do this?
If however you want to do the Put Foot Rally this year you are out of luck. On 1 September 2011 when the spots for the 2012 Put Foot Rally went on sale they sold out in 28 minutes. So the best thing to do is follow Put Foot Rally on Twitter, check their Facebook page and go to their website and make sure you don’t miss out on the 2013 Put Foot Rally.
