Things to do to avoid Idle Hands This School Holiday

Boredom, some may say it is the time killer, while others describe boredom as a state of mind. The question is, “How do you treat boredom?”
These school holidays instead of being bored how about getting creative with your free time. However you tackle the ‘time killer’ all depends on you. After watching the 1999 horror film ‘Idle Hands’, it is probably not the best idea to be jaded. Keeping busy is the first step to avoiding idle hands.
Our boredom buster at Junk Mail has been working around the clock to find the cure. Listed below are ways to relieve your boredom:>

  • Have a movie marathon or make a movie with your phone
  • Gather a pile of old books, close your eyes, toss out the books one by one, and read the last one remaining cover to cover in one sitting
  • Go swimming (in a heated pool it is winter after all)
  • Go to your local museum and take the local tour
  • Look at old photographs (you were so cute… what happened?!)
  • Make a collage/poster out of your old photos
  • Write a thank-you note to someone important in your life
  • Teach your pet a new trick (be patient!)
  • Find stuff you don’t need and post a free ad on Junk Mail to get some extra money
  • Make a CD or playlist of your favourite songs or as a gift for someone
  • Talk to your parents about your ancestors (believe me… it’s cooler than it sounds!)
  • Bake cookies (you may just be the next SA Master Chef)
  • Call someone you haven’t talked to in a REALLY long time
  • Mow the lawn (your parents will LOVE you!)
  • Set up a tent in your backyard and go “camping”
  • Play Wallyball! Look up rules at:
  • Play 20 questions
  • Invent a new game… maybe even make your own board game with pieces and all (this may just make you millions later on in life)
  • Hide a “treasure” and make a scavenger hunt for your friends
  • Start your own blog
  • Make Goop! (Mix 2 cups water, a few drops of food colouring, and 6 cups corn starch/corn flour.)
  • Make your own list of things to do when you’re bored!
  • Create a Facebook album of your own funny signs by taking photos of signs in your neighbourhood

So don’t be getting bored or you may just have your own case of Idle Hands… and don’t say we didn’t warn you!
