Third edition of Mieliepop Festival coming in November 2013

The third edition of Mieliepop festival will be held at Tolderia Resort (near Lothair in Mpumalanga) from the 1st to the 4th of November 2013 and promises to be one of the highlights on the SA music festival calendar. The first two editions of the festival have given this amazing event the reputation as South Africa’s friendliest and most relaxed rock, reggae and blues festival.

In 2011 the organizers of Mieliepop set out to create a festival with a unique approach. Their intention was to create an event with breathtaking scenery, excellent performances by talented musicians and limited tickets. They basically wanted a festival with a relaxed atmosphere, no queues, clean ablution facilities for an all round amazing setting where people can just kick back and enjoy good music.

Having attended both of the Mieliepop festivals (in 2011 and 2012) I can tell you that it’s exactly what they have achieved. Just over 1,000 people attended the festival in 2011 and just over 2,000 people attended the festival in 2012 (even though classic rock legends Uriah Heap headlined the festival).

The 2013 edition of Mieliepop will feature Canadian Pop legends Men Without Hats as the international headlining act. Men Without Hats gained fame in the late 1970’s and 1980’s with songs like “Safety Dance” and “Pop Goes The World”. Festival and music junkies can also look forward to performances by Riders from the Storm, Shawn Phillips, Albert Frost, Greg Georgiades and Michael Lesar, Scicoustic, Valiant Swart, Radio Kalahari Orkes, Naming James, G-Force, Some Grow Young, Aidan Martin, Andra, Shotgun Tori, Die See, Crystal Park, Mrs B, The December Streets, Smoking Mojos, Pangaea, Kinky Robot, Red Hand Blues Band, DJ Legend and Aum.
