Wet Nose Day – 27 August 2011

The Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre is a registered ‘right to life’ animal sanctuary that is involved in the rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, unwanted and neglected animals.

Their vision is to rehabilitate and re-home abandoned neglected and unwanted animals, to support owners in distress and offer a personal service to owners and animals alike, to educate the public, especially children and to eradicate ignorance about animals, to facilitate the adoption of animals into caring homes, to ensure that every animal has a caring and loving home, to actively promote sterilisation programmes as an animal population control measure and to have every animal identifiable by a tag and as an alternative a microchip.

Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre opposes the use of animals in any sport which is contrary to the nature of the animal, the use of animals in sports where animals are pitted against animals or humans, the use of any animal as entertainment for humans, such as circuses and live animals put on display in shopping centres and the giving of live animals as prizes for whatever reason.

Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre accepts that live animals may from time to time be used in films, television and theatre productions, but they must be treated in such a way that it causes no suffering or indignity to the animal. No animal may be portrayed in a manner derogatory to its species or breed.

Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre (in conjunction with Complete Pet Food) are hosting Wet Nose Day on the 27th of August 2011. The event is an annual fund raising event for the centre. Pet loving members of the public are invited to come and ‘adopt’ a dog for the day, spoil them & walk them. There will be an awards ceremony for some of our old doggies, a beauty competition for kiddies, various stalls to support, a beer garden and a big screen TV for the die hard rugby fans. In all, a great day of fun for the whole family!

Braai Boy (@BraaiBoy) will be braaing on the day and supporting the event with his companies. All his proceeds will go to Wetnose. For those of you who don’t know who he is, check out http://www.braaiboy.co.za. There will also be many biker crews joining the festivities (Including the Equity Riders & the Flatline Crew who will be arriving with metro police escorts). Henno Gous (@whisperdscream), Julia Rubkina (@Julzy85), Meg Ekart (@Meg_misshotcake) and Tyron Long (@Tyronlsa) will be arranging pick up points for donations in the coming week and next for those who can’t make it. The popular venue, Arcade Empire, has pledged to serve as a collection point for donations and will be asking their customers to bring donations and gather huge support for Wet Nose Day.

Support for Wet Nose Day has grown at an unbelievable rate over the last week. A minimum of 1000 people are expected to attend the event. Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre is located at Plot 75, Old Pretoria / Bronkhorstspruit Road, Vaalbank, Kungwini. To get there take the Rayton / Cullinan offramp from the N4 East (the Witbank / Emalahleni road from Pretoria) and follow the pointer boards
