There are daily highlight events such as the “Go Green” Bloemfontein Courant expo running for around 3 days; the Fitness and Health Expo with different focus areas each day, run by Rose Hall of CrossFit Resume; the 4X4 Obstacle Course where you will be able to test drive 4X4 vehicles daily; the Sheep Festival- where you will be able to purchase a variety of very tasty lamb dishes, the Kiddies ‘Inflatable City’, the daily Farm Stall exhibition, the Fun Fair and the Creative Crafts Section.
One of the Bloemfontein events of the year, you will also find other entertainment activities to keep you intrigued. For all knitting fans you will be happy to know that there will be a knitting, spinning and shearing competition – the CMW/OVK Back to Back. This competition will be held on the 29th of April from 9am to 3pm.
If you are looking for things to do in Bloemfontein, there will also be a Fun Walk at the show. The walk will be hosted by Ola and Radio Rosestad on Monday the 1st of May. If you want to take part in this walk you will have to register beforehand. However, it is best that you try and register as soon as you can because participation is limited to only the first 200 registrations.
Given the size of the show and the amount of people who visit the Bloem Show the longer you procrastinate, the lower your odds of being able to register for the walk.
Interestingly there will also be a Vodacom Train which will be taking people around the showground. This will be a great activity for the toddlers. The tickets to the train are fairly inexpensive at R10. As an added bonus to the train ticket you will also get free ice-cream. This is definitely something your toddlers and younger children will enjoy a lot.
Venue and Tickets
As is the norm, this year’s show will be hosted at the Bloemfontein Show Grounds. There are a few ticket options available. For general adult admission you can expect to pay R80, for children under the age of 12 and for pensioners the fee is pegged at R30. If you have children under the age of 6 on the other hand, admission will be free.
On special days ticket prices will fluctuate both up and down. On the third of May there will be a fun fair special and prices of unlimited rides will be pegged at R130 until 8pm. While on the 2nd and the 7th of May adult admission will be R40 and R120 respectively and R15 and R40 for children under the age of 12 and pensioners.
