The capital city has a population of 2.3 million people. Pretoria still has the hustle and bustle of a normal modern day metropolis, but is more chilled out than Johannesburg and even though it’s massive, it still has a small town feel to it.

Pretoria is not as boring as many people think. The capital city has a wide selection of awesome restaurants. Today I’m showcasing 3 awesome restaurants that you might want to check out the next time you find yourself in the capital  city.

Lucky Rodrigo: This restaurant has only been around for about a year, but has quickly built up a reputation as one of the coolest places to go to in the capital city. Lucky Rodrigo is located on the corner of The Alpine and The Hillside Street in Menlo Park. This restaurant’s menu features some of the tastiest burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs in the capital city. They also quite a wide selection of wines and they make some really tasty cappuccinos.

The vibe and atmosphere is extremely relaxed and the service is excellent. The restaurant crowd ranges from young and hip to old and interesting. Lucky Rodrigo’s dishes and drinks are reasonably priced – you will not be forking out an arm and a leg to pay for your meal. Eastwoods Tavern: This restaurant / pub has been a Pretoria institution ever since it opened way back in 1997 and is located at 390 Eastwood Road, 1 block from Loftus Versveld Stadium.

Eastwoods Tavern has a wide selection of good food on their menu. Their T-Bone is one of the tastiest ones that you’ll eat in South Africa – just ask anyone who has eaten one there. The atmosphere varies from quite vibey and electric during rugby and football matches to quite relaxed if there isn’t any meaningful sporting event that is happening. Their drinks and food are on the pricey side, but have a look, they do have killer specials during the week.

Eastwoods Tavern

It may have been tiny when it first opened, but Eastwoods Tavern has seen lots of renovations over the last few years. Nowadays there’s ample space and parking for patrons, enough televisions to enjoy live sporting events and even a tiny dance floor for those who feel the need to boogie.

Eastwoods Tavern is one of the most popular restaurants in Pretoria. Make sure that you book a table in advance if you’re thinking of having lunch there on a weekday or if you plan to watch a rugby or football match over the weekend to avoid disappointment. Baraćas Wine & Beer Bar: This is one of the finest Pretoria restaurants with a good food selection, craft beers and craft cocktails. Baraćas Wine & Beer Bar is located at 56 Totius Street on the grounds Harlequins Sports Club in Groenkloof.

Baraćas Wine & Beer Bar’s interior was recently revamped. The pub has a friendly ambiance and is perfect for a relaxing drink and chat with friends after a hard practicing session or an ideal spot to pop in for a quick beer on the way home from work.
