Great news Movie Buffs! Gangster Squad is going to be released on DVD and Blu Ray by Warner Home Entertainment and Nu Metro on the 17th of May 2013! The film was released in cinemas earlier this year. It’s an Action / Crime / Drama film directed by Ruben Fleischer (who also brought us Zombieland in 2009).
Gangster Squad is such an awesome film, that we are running a competition to celebrate it’s release on DVD and Blu Ray! But before we get into that, let’s tell you a bit more about this film…
Gangster Squad takes place in 1949 Los Angeles. Gangster Mickey Cohen (played by Sean Penn) has moved in and he has the intention to control all criminal activity in the City of Angels. He buys off the local judges and police and no one dares crossing him – Everyone expect Sergeant John O’Mara (a World War II veteran played by Josh Brolin). His goal is to settle in a peaceful Los Angeles with his family.
Police Chief William Parker decides to form a special unit (headed by O’Mara) whose mission is to take down Mickey Cohen. O’Mara asks 4 cops and and Jerry Wooters (a veteran played by Ryan Gosling) to join the unit. The 6 of them decide to take apart Cohen’s domain piece by piece. Cohen starts thinking a rival is after him, but eventually realizes that it’s the police and goes after the unit.
Just a note: Gangster Squad is rated R for strong violence and language and is not suitable for children or sensitive viewers. Check out the movie trailer for Gangster Squad below. It looks like it’s a drama filled and action packed flick.
