One of the biggest social mountain biking gatherings and premier one-day bike challenges in South Africa, the Hollard JUMA, is taking place on 28 May 2017.
This exciting event is an opportunity for everyone who loves mountain biking, even kids, to tackle challenging obstacles on their bikes, whilst enjoying the beautiful natural scenery Johannesburg has to offer.
What makes this year’s event extra special is the partnership that has been formed between the ‘Ride Like a Girl’ initiative and the Hollard JUMA.
‘Ride Like a Girl’ is a ladies lifestyle brand with a focus on empowering women mountain bike riders to let go of any fear they might have of taking on challenging terrain with their bikes and to ride to the best of their abilities. ‘Ride Like a Girl’ equips lady riders with the skills they need to be able to enjoy mountain biking to the fullest and hold their ground next to their male counterparts on any track.
Their skills clinics provide mountain bike training to beginner, intermediate and advanced cyclists conducted by experienced in-house instructors and ride guides. Along with the skills clinics, mountain bike rides to some of the top mountain biking trails in South Africa are arranged. The initiative also gives regular workshops to do product reviews and share vital information about mountain biking. To find out more about ‘Ride Like a Girl’ and to sign up for one of these skills clinics, you can visit their website.
This year, the ladies of ‘Ride Like a Girl’ are geared up and ready to take part in the Hollard JUMA. Many ladies will be participating in either the 22km or the more challenging 54km event and not only get to experience the lovely views, but try out their new skills and push themselves to the limits on a challenging track.
The Hollard JUMA is brought to you by Hollard and BAM Specialist Events in partnership with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo and promises to be a great event for the whole family. Kids up to the ages of 9 years can take part in shorter tracks of between one and two kilometers. You can also look forward to an awesome beer tent at the finishing line for a great refreshment after this fun race.
The JUMA will start and finish at Marks Park in Johannesburg. Entry fees for the 54km race are R399, R299 for the 22km and R85 for the kids. For more information and to enter now, visit www.juma.co.za. You can also follow the event on Twitter @JUMAMTB.
