Getting in shape for summer- Exercises you can do at home

Spring is finally here, and it is the perfect time to get out of the lazy winter lifestyle. Get out of bed, switch off the television, get rid of the comfort foods and start exercising to get your body summer ready. Exercising is not only about working out to look good, but also to feel great and healthy.

Getting in shape for summer begins with you. You may not like going to the gym because you never have time to, or you may find it is too rowdy and busy.

Well here are 6 great ways to exercise at the comfort of your own home:

  • Walking/Jogging

Spring has sprung with beautiful weather. Wake up early and walk or jog around your neighbourhood and enjoy the beautiful Spring scenery. Watch the sun rays peep through the clouds, listen to the birds sing and exercise while doing it. However, if the weather has other ideas, and you have a flight of stairs at your place, you can go up and down them a few times, you can even grab a load of laundry since you will be going in that direction anyways.

  • Jumping Jacks

Who doesn’t love jumping jacks? Jumping jacks is a fun way to exercise as well as bring back childhood memories. Jumping Jacks is not only a great way to entertain yourself with your friends as a kid, but it is also a great cardio and warm up exercise.

  • Crunches

Crunches are the best exercise for strengthening and building up your abdominal muscles. Crunches are also known for loosing belly fat as well as toning your abs. When you are just starting out, it doesn’t matter if you cannot do it like a professional. Your head wouldn’t go all the way up to your knees, but don’t quit… Because practice makes perfect.

To gain benefits, you will just need to go up until you feel stretching in your muscles. There are many variants of this exercise, you can lift your leg up to a 30 degree angle, 60 degree angle and 90 degree angle to get more benefits.

You can start off with something lighter such as canned foods and work yourself up to heavier items such as Detergent Bottles or Milk Bottles. Party yourself into shape, one of my favorites. Dancing is a wonderful exercise, and is great for your heart. It’s not only a great cardio exercise, but it can also lift your spirits and give you a great overall boost.

Getting exercise is important not only to lose weight and look good, but also to lead a healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to go out and join a gym, as they are very expensive.
