Living in the Greater Johannesburg region and looking for something to do on the 26th of October? Well, the Johannesburg South Family Festival may just be what you’ve been waiting for. The event takes place on the Rietvlei Zoo Farm (on Swartkoppies Road between Mulbarton and Alberton).
The Johannesburg South Family Festival is a joint venture by the JHB South Africa online directory, Rietvlei Zoo Farm and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and aims to create awareness and raise funds for the local CPF while providing local charities, organizations, residents and businesses with a day of family fun and entertainment. The festival also aims to help to create a sense of pride in the Johannesburg South and Alberton regions and to help to establish Johannesburg South as a community.
The Johannesburg South Family Festival will feature the Mr, Ms and Baby, Child, Teen and Youth Beauty Pageants. This will run from 9 AM to 12 noon on the day and will include various age groups for babies to boys and girls between 0 and 21 years old. Interested parties can collect an entry from the farm office or visit the JHB South directory website. Registration will start from 8.30 AM on the day.
There will also be various clown and magic shows, dancing and games with Zak the Zoo buddy and Sammy Seeff and the Brazilian Soccer Schools will be there to show off their soccer skills and tricks. Visitors can also look forward to a dog agility show (hosted Dukes Dog Academy) and a dancing show / demonstration from various dance schools. There will also be a farm yard with a wide variety of farm animals (including pigs, goats, geese, ducks, ponies and more) for kids and their families to explore, a 9 hole putt putt course, pony rides, carnival rides, tractor cart rides and much more.
Families are invited to bring their bicycles and ride the trails or walk on the walk / run trails and are also more than welcome to bring their own picnic baskets and blankets, chairs, tables and umbrellas to enjoy a family picnic. If a picnic isn’t really your thing you can enjoy light meals at the Tea Garden or purchase something tasty at the Tuck shop or one of the food and drink market stalls.
