The 2013 edition of Wetnose Homeless Animal Day was held over the weekend (on the 28th of September) at the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre (near Cullinan). Pet lovers were invited to show their support for one of Gauteng’s top “right to Life” registered animal rehabilitation shelters. A few members of the Junk Mail team made their way to this event to show their support for this good cause. Since Wetnose has a no-kill policy for adopted animals they truly need all the help that they can get. Every animal is loved for and cared by this non-profit organization until a loving home is found for them – it doesn’t matter how long it takes.
Upon entrance our representatives received doggy treats for their four legged friends at home (which included iced biscuits and nutritious kibbles). The whole day turned out to be quite an eventful one. Most of the day was spent walking dogs and petting cats and because the event coincided with World Rabies Day Wetnose also offered free rabies shots to those who brought their own pets. Attending their yearly award ceremony for Wetnose Homeless Animal the Junk Mail representatives praised the owners of adopted pets for helping them through the pain, helping them to adapt to new and normal families and caring for them when no one else would.
Feel like also doing your bit for a good cause? Wetnose doesn’t receive any government or municipal funding. They mostly rely on donations from the public and because their operating costs exceed R200, 000 a month they need all the help they can get. So, do your part to support Wetnose by adopting a pet for a nominal fee, but do take note that certain terms and conditions apply for doing this.
