Great news for fans of Lady Gaga in South Africa! The five time Grammy Award winning artist made her triumphant return to the stage this Spring with The Born This Way Ball. In this brand new tour, she performs her latest album “Born This Way” as well as music from both “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster” album. The Born This Way Ball is produced globally by Live Nation and began on the 27th of April 2012 in Seoul in South Korea.
Today event organizer Big Concerts announced The Born This Way Ball performances in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Lady Gaga will perform on the 30th of November 2012 at FNB Stadium (formerly Soccer City) in Johannesburg and 3rd of December at Cape Town Stadium.
It was also announced that Lady Gaga would be supported by The Darkness (a newly reformed Rock Band from the UK famous for their song “I Believe in A Thing Called Love”) and Lady Gaga’s long time performance partner and DJ, Lady Starlight. The Born This Way Ball has had some positive reviews. The Hong Kong Daily News wrote “Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball is effortlessly brilliant in both the visual and musical sense”, the Seoul Daily wrote “splendid and unprecedented stage, she is the absolute queen of pop!” and the Bangkok Business
Newspaper noted that “this concert is a PHENOMENON!”.
The Born This Way Ball is Lady Gaga’s first tour since the release of her album “Born This Way” (which has sold nearly 6 million copies worldwide since its release in May 2011). The album is the follow-up to her back-to-back Grammy Award-winning albums (“The Fame Monster” and “The Fame”). Combined “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster” have sold 15 million copies worldwide. In case you did not know, Lady Gaga’s hit singles have combined sales of over 90 million worldwide.
Lady Gaga was also named Forbes Magazine’s Most Powerful Woman in the World 2011 and was included in Time’s annual “The 2010 Time 100” list of the most influential people in the world. Her music videos have had over 2.2 billion combined views. She’s is also one of the biggest living people on Facebook with over 52 million Facebook fans and is number 1 on Twitter (with almost 26 million followers). She is also the only artist in the digital era to top the 5 million sales mark with her first two hit singles.
Tickets for The Born This Way Ball go on sale on-line only for both cities Tuesday, June 19th (9 AM) via the Computicket website. Tickets will only be available at Computicket outlets and via the Computicket call center starting Thursday, the 21st of June (9 AM) for Johannesburg and Friday, the 22nd of June (9 AM) for Cape Town.
