Are you a fan of the arts? Are you an aspiring artist looking for inspiration? The FNB Joburg Art Fair may just be the event you’ve been waiting for. Over the years this event has become one of the premium arts event on the Johannesburg and Gauteng social calendar. The 6th annual edition of this event will take place at Exhibition Hall #2 at the Sandton Convention Center from 27 to 29 September 2013.
The Joburg Art Fair features the best in African contemporary art and design. The 2012 edition of the FNB Joburg Art Fair welcomed +/- 10,000 visitors and featured 27 galleries from 6 countries and 12 Special Projects. This year’s edition promises to be bigger and better and will feature art and design exhibitions from 32 galleries and various special projects.
There will also be an Alfa Romeo International Art Talks Program featuring local and international artists and Grolsch have also commissioned Martli Jansen van Rensburg (a prominent South African glass artist) to create a green glass installation which will be exhibited at the event for the first time. The organizers (Artlogic) have also commissioned South African artist Mohau Modisakeng to create a video installation for a new project entitled “Video Art”. This special project is powered by Samsung.
The organizers’ intention has always to create a fair that showcases the best contemporary art from the world’s biggest continent. The central focus for the 2013 edition of the Joburg Art Fair will be on photography. It’s also the third time that the fair will feature the FNB Art Prize.
Attending the fair won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Tickets for the Friday only will set you back R50. Tickets for the Saturday or Sunday will only set you back R100 per day and 3-day pass tickets are also available at R200. Tickets can be bought at Web Tickets.
