Who does not know what Google is? Google has been very innovative in many frontiers, focussing on quality and relevancy for all. This has made Google not only an extremely successful organisation, but also a house brand that is recognised globally.

Google’s leading advertising system is just one of the innovative ideas that have redefined the online advertising industry as we know it. This ingenious platform is called: AdWords.

Adwords has changed our perspective of online branding and marketing by adding to our vocabulary the world of PPC (Pay per Click) advertising. For all the AdWords newbies out there, PPC advertising works on the basis that you pay every time a person clicks on your Adwords ad banner. This ad can appear either in search results (this is the most common adwords example) or the Google Display Network.

The Google Display network allows you to advertise on Google’s affiliate websites using banners, text or images. This makes the PPC advertising model even more effective as it allows you to target your communications efforts only to those people who are interested in the type of product or service that you are selling. For example: if I am searching “yoga mats” a banner advertising “cars for sale” will not come up.  It is important to target your ads as this will result in a better return on investment.

Unlike other advertising models, the budget does not necessarily restrict smaller businesses in advertising. Google uses a smart algorithm that does not only take budget into account, but also an element called Quality Score. Quality score is made up of a number of factors including your click through rate, your bid and much more. Quality score is given a rank out of 10, example: 4/10 or 9/10. The higher your quality score, the better chance you have of your ad showing up in search results with your assigned keywords. It is therefore important to understand and maintain the balance between the budget and Quality Scores in order to achieve a successful Adwords campaign.

Since this advertising system is so intricate and effective Junk Mail Classifieds has teamed up with Google in order to launch a business initiative to uplift and empower local businesses to use this powerful marketing tool to their advantage – this Friday we will bring you Junk Mail’s very own Google Adwords Seminar.
