10 Xbox 360 games you have to play before you die

If you are a console gamer and just love your Xbox 360, we have compiled a list of ten of the must play Xbox 360 games for sale. From Grand Theft Auto to Halo, we are convinced that if you do not already own one, you will want to find an Xbox 360 for sale.

BioShock Infinite

Developed by Irrational Games and published by 2K Games, BioShock Infinite was the third instalment in the series and released in March of 2013. Set in 1912, this first person shooter Xbox 360 game takes you on a quest to find a woman named Elizabeth.


With a steampunk look, the game is set in the floating air city of Columbia where Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth get involved in a war between the elite and the nativist. You will create time tears, turn the tides of battle and use your powers to fight all that oppose you and your mission.

Winning over 80 editorial awards from E3 back in 2011, your character forms a powerful bond with Elizabeth as you fight in the streets of the floating city – which by the way looks epic – on Zeppelins and even in the clouds, all the while learning how to harness your character’s abilities and weapons.

Red Dead Redemption

If you love the ways of the Wild West, this is one of the Xbox 360 games you simply have to play. An open world action hit developed by Rockstar San Diego, Red Dead Redemption was published by Rockstar Games, hitting consoles in May of 2010. The second in the series (following Red Dead Revolver released in 2014), Redemption is set in 1911 and is played from a third person perspective.


Giving you an open world American Frontier, Red Dead Redemption follows outlaw John Marston as he sets off as a bounty hunter. Filled with old west gun battles, you will have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of interesting characters as you move through the perilous west filled with gunslingers.

Hunting down the members of his former gang, the main character will have to make new friends, lose some old one and spill some blood.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

All of us know this phrase – be it a super irritated girlfriend that had to say goodbye to her boyfriend for a couple of weeks or a psyched gamer. The Elder Scrolls series is primarily developed and published by Bethesda – a company that has been putting amazing Xbox games on a shelf near you. Known for its rich and detailed open world, the entire series has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.


Skyrim was the fifth instalment of the series and released in November of 2011 with the Legendary Edition being released in June of 2013.

Described as a good match for those of you who love playing Dungeons and Dragons, Skyrim not only offers a good main quest line, but also offers tons of side quests, giving you hours of exploring, dungeon diving, crafting and hunting.

Portal 2

If you love sarcasm, it is time to find an Xbox 360 for sale. Portal 2 is, simply put, a definite must-play! Linked to the highly acclaimed Half-Life series, this game is jam-packed with smart play and smart humour. The game itself is dark and filled with puzzles that will challenge you. A first person game, it was both developed and published by Valve – one of the masters of game making – in April of 2011.


A true funhouse of fiendish science, you are the test subject of Aperture Laboratories and it is your mission to escape, fighting the very sharp and sort of dark and evil GLaDOS. Different from the blood and gore we always see in games, Portal 2 makes you use your mind.

Equipped with a Portal gun, you will break the laws of spatial physics, meet some new characters and even have the opportunity to take on Aperture Laboratories with a friend in co-op game mode.

Portal 2 is also one of the Xbox 360 games for sale that boasts a range of awards including Eurogamer’s Game of the Year (2011), Associated Press’ Game of the Year (2011) and Kotaku’s Game of the Year (2011), to name but a few.

Halo 3

The first Halo game to be released on Xbox 360, Halo 3 offers a conclusion to the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. Developed by Bungie, Halo 3 was published by Microsoft Game Studios in September of 2007.

Officially announced at E3 in 2006, Halo 3 is set during 2552 and 2553, and sees the Master Chief returning. Uncovering an ancient secret, the raging conflict between the human race, the Covenant and the Flood comes to an ultimate climax.


Mainly experiencing the game from a first person perspective, this shooter game has a full and satisfying story, worthy enemies, airborne fighting, and dogfights in space. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of some of the power in your Xbox 360 console – including graphics, technical developments, advancements in game play as well as experience online game play.

The Halo franchise itself is a popular one among gamers, selling over 14.5 million copies worldwide.

GTA – Grand Theft Auto V

With tons of gamers climbing out of their own skins with excitement, GTA V were one of those Xbox 360 games for sale that everyone just had to have – and it still is. Like Red Dead Redemption, GTA V was developed by Rockstar North. The game was published by Rockstar Games in September of 2013.


Offering an open world, Grand Theft Auto is set in a fictionalised L.A and California desert which you, aside from completing the main objectives of the game, can explore at will. A game developed for rule breakers, you can grab a boat, plane, truck or even a bicycle and set off into a world of adventure.

Mocking everything and everyone, this game is the playground of misbehaviour and equips you with firearms and explosives to take on your enemies.

Mass Effect 2

If we haven’t already convinced you to find an Xbox 360 for sale, Mass Effect 2 might do the trick. An action packed role playing game, Mass Effect 2 was released in January of 2010. Developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts, this game lets you take on the role of Commander Shepard from the perspective of a third person.

Commanding your crew on a mission, Mass Effect 2 is set in the Milky Way galaxy during the twenty-second century. You have to assemble your own crew, choosing the best from convicts, mystics and geniuses.


Setting off to find out why humans are disappearing from the galaxy, this game has a number of interesting stories and, during that time, focus was placed on the ability to import your saved game from the first Mass Effect.

Do know that, while you get tons of little and interesting stories, the main story arc is more like a setup for the Mass Effect to follow.

Gears of War 3

A third person shooter, Gears of War 3 has a science fiction military setting and was released in 2011. Developed by Epic Games, Gears of War 3 was published by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 and delivers a hard-core shooting experience.


This is one of the Xbox 360 games for sale that will challenge you to survive combat situations using tactics. Carrying four weapons at a time, the game itself is set two years after Jacinto’s destruction. With a game play that is described as both brutal and emotional, Gears of War 3 rewards you the more you play, offering a great number of achievements and giving you expanded difficulty settings.

This release Xbox games in the franchise also offered improved multiplayer modes and even offered awesome downloadable content that included maps from the second Gears of War.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

A fan of the DC Comic hero Batman? Then Batman: Arkham Asylum is one the Xbox 360 games you have to play before you die. Written by Paul Dini, this game was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Eidos Interactive (with Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment).


Released in August and September of 2009, this third person adventure has a gripping story that will pull you in. You will have the opportunity to complete fabulous puzzles and use awesome weapons from Batman’s stunning arsenal.

Creating a lasting appeal, Batman: Arkham Asylum features detective vision and 240 riddles. You will face off against the Joker, masterfully voiced by Mark Hamill, Victor Zsasz, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc in an action filled adventure that will keep you entertained.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

An historical fiction game, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is an open world game where stealth is key. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, this instalment of Assassin’s Creed was released in October of 2013 for Xbox and takes you on a journey set in early 18th century Caribbean.


Set in the age of piracy at the beginning of 1715, this game takes you on a journey following the pirate Edward Kenway. With three main cities (Kingston, Havana and Nassau), you will have the opportunity to discover islands, forts and ship wreckages. You can complete side quests, explore fifty unique locations, pull alongside a British warship and act like a pirate.

Dark Souls

A third person game, it was released in 2011. An extremely challenging game, it has an FPB Rating of 16.

Fallout 3

An open world, role playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout 3 was published by Bethesda Softworks in 2008. Please note that we could not find the FPB Rating for this game.


Call of Duty: Black Ops II

A first person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops II was released in 2012. Developed by Treyarch, Call off Duty: Black Ops was published by Activision. Note that this Xbox 360 game has an FPB Rating of 16.


Borderlands 2

Released in 2012, Borderlands 2 is a first person shooter. Published by 2K Games and developed by Gearbox Software, it was ported to PlayStation Vita in May of 2014 and in September of 2014 it was released on Linux. This Xbox game has an FPB Rating of 18.

Other games we feel should also be mentioned includes The Walking Dead, XCOM: Enemy Within and Dead Space 2.
