An Awesome Dad’s Sandwich Bag Art

Let’s face it folks, there are some really cool dads out there. David Laferriere (an illustratior and graphic designer from Massachusetts in the United States) is one of them. This awesome dad takes a few extra minutes of his time each day to draw creative and interesting pictures on both his sons’ sandwich bags and he’s been doing it for close to five years. He takes photos with his camera of the pictures that he draws and posts them on Flickr. The detail in his illustrations show his dedication to the task at hand.

David started doing this in May 2008. According to Huffington Post, monsters, robots, birds and worms are among his favorite subjects. He also told them that the inspiration for the drawings on the sandwich bags come from whatever may be happening at the time. He explained that it could be something they did as a family, a holiday or a day like Ground Hog Day and that the weather sneaks in from time to time. It’s pretty awesome to know that there are still people out there who don’t mind to make an effort to make their kids smile on a daily basis.

David Laferriere definitely has talent and just may be the world’s first sandwich bag Picasso. Just take some time and check out some of the pictures of the awesome designs on this article and you’ll see what I mean.

And he is not the only illustrator in the world that is doing sandwich bag drawing, but he has his own unique style. At first David tried drawing directly on the bread, but it was time consuming and it didn’t really work out. He found a marker in the kitchen one morning and wondered if it work, and it did – so far he’s done over 1,100 drawings on sandwich bags since he started the project. That’s a lot of sandwich bags if you ask me.
